Amid a chronic shortage of infrastructure and mounting pressure on the continent’s supply chains, Nigeria has unveiled one of its most ambitious logistics investments to date. On December 8, 2025, TY Logistics Park FZE, a subsidiary of TY Holdings Group, officially launched its first integrated logistics park in Alaro City, within the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos. The launch aims to redefine contract logistics standards across West Africa.
A Hub Designed to Reverse Supply Chain Inefficiencies
The new TY Logistics Park positions itself as a fully systems-driven logistics center, designed to streamline regional trade and reduce long-standing inefficiencies along the Nigerian corridor. Phase 1, already operational, covers 100,000 sqm and includes a 29,000 sqm racked warehouse with 44,000 pallet positions, a 13.5-meter operating height, and 28 loading and offloading docks.
The site, EDGE certified, features international-standard installations—including electric dock doors and levelers and a full fleet of electric material-handling equipment (MHE)—reflecting a clear commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
One of the most notable announcements is that TY Logistics Park claims to be the first contract logistics operator in Nigeria fully driven by a world-class Warehouse Management System (WMS). In a sector that has long struggled with informality and manual processes, this could mark a major shift.
A New Player—With Deep Sector Roots
Although TY Logistics Park FZE appears as a new entrant, its parent company, TY Holdings Group, has strong logistics foundations. Founded in 1979 by General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd), the group made its mark through NAL-COMET, one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous shipping companies. From 12 employees at inception, TY Holdings has grown to more than 2,000 staff across eight subsidiaries.
With this new logistics park, the group intends to set a new grade-A benchmark in contract logistics: multi-user storage, automated inventory management, pick & pack operations, value-added services, cross-docking, and regional and free-zone distribution.
A Regional Distribution Gateway for West Africa
Located in the Lekki Free Zone, TY Logistics Park FZE is positioning itself as a logistics gateway for companies seeking efficient West African distribution strategies. The benefits include:
-
Shorter import lead times,
-
Improved access to West African markets,
-
Better cost control through deferred duty and tax payments,
-
Elimination of double taxation on regional flows.
The facility is designed to serve multiple industries, including FMCG, food and perishables, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, electronics, fashion and apparel, automotive parts, construction materials, chemicals (DG and non-DG), oil & gas—and potentially cold chain logistics.
A Strategic Location Along a Transforming Corridor
Its proximity to the upcoming Lekki Deep Sea Port, emerging industrial zones, and new road infrastructure gives the park a strategic edge. It is positioned to serve Nigeria’s massive domestic market (over 200 million consumers) as well as land-locked countries that rely on the Nigerian corridor: Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad.
A Potential Paradigm Shift for Nigerian Logistics
With grade-A infrastructure, certified operations, and a fully systems-driven approach, TY Logistics Park FZE enters a market urgently needing standardization and modernization. The challenge will be transforming this technological and infrastructural advantage into long-term competitiveness amid regulatory, security, and supply chain hurdles.
For now, this launch marks a major milestone: Nigeria’s decisive move into modern contract logistics, led by a homegrown player with clear regional ambitions.
