Unveiled on May 18, 2024, the renovated Korhogo airport stands as a testament to Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to modernizing its air transport infrastructure. With a staggering investment of 23 billion FCFA, this state-of-the-art facility is not only designed to enhance passenger comfort but also to serve as a catalyst for regional growth and development.
The airport boasts an array of cutting-edge aeronautical equipment, including visual aids, radio and meteorological systems, a precision landing system, a car park accommodating over 120 vehicles, a 5 km road network, well-equipped offices for staff, and modern drainage systems.
“The commissioning of the renovated Korhogo airport marks a new era for the aviation sector in Côte d’Ivoire, strengthening air links between our cities and fostering regional integration,” remarked Dagnogo Balla, a local official.
The construction of this new airport, coupled with the influx of foreign investments, is poised to transform the Poro region into a hub of economic activity and job creation.
“Located 600 km from Abidjan, this airport will significantly reduce travel time to Korhogo, boosting domestic tourism and unlocking the region’s immense potential,” emphasized Ty Estelle, a teacher.
With this infrastructure in place, the airport’s passenger capacity is expected to surge from 23,000 to 150,000 per year. This transformation aligns with President Alassane Ouattara’s unwavering vision of modernizing and promoting Côte d’Ivoire’s air transport sector.
