On Monday, February 17, 2025, the Director General of the Burkinabè Shippers’ Council (CBC), Dr. Kassoum TRAORE, welcomed the Commercial, Marketing, and Public Affairs Director of Ghana Ports, Dr. Kingsley ANTWI-BOASIAKO, to the institution’s headquarters.
Accompanied by Mr. Nlalinan WUJANGI, Ghana Ports’ Representative for the Sahel region, and Mr. Malik ADAMS, Deputy Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, this courtesy visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation for better freight management along the Ghana-Burkina Faso corridor.
A Commitment to Traffic Fluidity
During the meeting, Dr. Kingsley ANTWI-BOASIAKO reaffirmed the Ghanaian port authorities’ commitment to optimizing the movement of goods and improving logistical services to Burkina Faso. This corridor is a vital route for exporting Burkinabè products internationally and importing essential goods into the country.
Dr. Kassoum TRAORE congratulated his guest on his recent appointment and assured him of CBC’s support in facilitating trade between the two countries. This mutual collaboration is crucial for Burkina Faso’s economic growth, which heavily relies on the port infrastructures of neighboring countries.
The Hinterland: A Key Partner for West African Ports
West African ports play a fundamental role in the region’s economic integration. However, their performance is directly linked to the ability of hinterland countries to efficiently utilize these infrastructures. Strengthened cooperation, such as that between Ghana and Burkina Faso, not only enhances port competitiveness but also ensures a harmonized logistical development across the subregion.
