The Annual General Assembly of the Transport Policy Program in Africa (SSATP) opened on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Cotonou, Benin. Chad, as a member state, is represented by a delegation from the Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology, led by its Secretary-General, Mr. Dihoulne Laurent.
Under the theme “Enhanced Governance for Safe, Sustainable, and Decarbonized Transport in Africa: Strengthening Institutional Capacities Through Regional Collaboration,” this high-level gathering brings together over 250 participants, including transport ministers, senior officials, development partners, private sector leaders, and technical experts to:
👉 Evaluate progress in implementing the Fourth Development Plan (DP4) 2022-2026.
👉 Share best practices, lessons learned, and innovative solutions in urban mobility, road safety, regional connectivity, and resilient road asset management.
👉 Strengthen partnerships, encourage collaboration, and facilitate exchanges among key stakeholders.
👉 Plan future activities in alignment with emerging priorities and challenges in Africa’s transport sector.
This four-day event (March 24-27, 2025) includes ministerial roundtables, technical discussions, and numerous networking opportunities, culminating in the SSATP General Assembly on the final day. During the assembly, participants will review progress on DP4 implementation, discuss strategic directions, and make crucial decisions for the upcoming year.
The SSATP General Assembly provides the Chadian delegation with significant networking opportunities, allowing them to establish partnerships and explore potential future collaborations. Numerous meetings are planned to share and review key findings and insights drawn from knowledge products, case studies, and technical support programs.
It is worth recalling that the Transport Policy Program in Africa (SSATP) is a longstanding partnership involving 42 African member countries, regional economic communities (RECs), development partners, and global and continental institutions, including the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the European Commission (EC), the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the World Bank (WB).
As a policy development and capacity-building program, SSATP supports African countries in addressing transport challenges and aligning their transport policies with broader development objectives.
