Tunis-Carthage Airport is gearing up to become a key player in Africa’s e-commerce sector. The Tunisian government aims to develop a dedicated logistics platform for the exchange and processing of international parcels, set to open by the end of April 2025.
This strategic project, co-led with the Universal Postal Union (UPU), required an investment of 9 million dinars and involved several major stakeholders, including the Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA), Tunisair, and security services.
During an evaluation visit, the Minister of Technology and Communication, Sofiene Hemissi, emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines for the completion of administrative procedures. He inspected several key sites, including the international transit and Rapid-Poste center, where he reiterated the need to comply with international quality standards. He also oversaw the rehabilitation of the El Kram post office, which has been closed since 2019, as well as ongoing renovations at La Goulette and Carthage-Salammbo, aimed at modernizing outdated infrastructure.
With this initiative, Tunisia seeks to strengthen its role in e-commerce logistics and assert its position in the African market.
