Tunisia Joins the African Trade and Investment Development Insurance

Tunisia signed on Monday the accession agreement to the African Trade and Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI), becoming the first North African country to join this pan-African agency and its 25th member.

This membership “is part of efforts to promote national and foreign investments and to secure trade exchanges on the African continent by providing guarantee mechanisms to reduce risk costs and facilitate access to financing,” announced Tunisia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh. He also stated that Tunisia could now contribute to ATIDI’s capital.

Founded in 2000 and based in Kenya, ATIDI offers insurance against commercial and political risks to businesses, investors, and financial institutions looking to operate in Africa.
