The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Plateau State Government to restore and operate the historic Jos–Kuru rail corridor. The agreement, signed in Lagos by Plateau’s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Jatau Davou, and NRC management, is part of efforts to revitalise Nigeria’s rail infrastructure.
The Jos–Kuru line, part of the Kafanchan–Kuru corridor linking the country’s Western and Eastern rail networks, will initially operate on narrow-gauge tracks, with plans to upgrade to standard gauge under the national railway modernisation programme.
Commercial operations are expected to begin soon, with similar partnerships planned across other states.
