Kale Logistics (Kale) has announced that it will develop the very first Airport Cargo Community System (ACS) in Africa and celebrated this major milestone alongside Mozambique Airport Handling Service (MAHS). This initiative comes at a time when Mozambique, driven by sustained annual growth in air traffic and a significant increase in cargo volumes, is positioning itself as a future multimodal cargo hub in Africa.
MAHS, a leader in airport handling services in Mozambique, provides comprehensive support to aircraft, passengers, cargo, and mail at the country’s main airports. Aware of the challenges posed by the limited visibility of commercial information—a problem affecting many stakeholders in Mozambican airports—MAHS has invested in digitizing its operations. This move is aimed at optimizing its performance and fully leveraging the sector’s growth potential.
Kale’s ACS offers stakeholders enhanced visibility and transparency, enabling real-time tracking of cargo movements and incorporating automated regulatory compliance checks. These features are designed to improve operational efficiency while ensuring adherence to industry standards. As part of the first phase of the MAHS project, the integration of financial and customs systems will be deployed, accompanied by GALAXY 3.0, Kale’s flagship digital airport cargo management system.
MAHS seeks to address several critical challenges, including:
- Revenue leakage
- Lack of visibility and transparency
- Elimination of paper documentation
- Enhancement of data exchange between various stakeholders
Initially, the ACS service will be implemented in eight airports where MAHS is currently active, before expanding to twelve additional locations in a subsequent phase.
“Kale is a pioneer in air cargo digitization worldwide, and we are proud to be the first to adopt its ACS in Africa. We are convinced that this technology-driven solution will enable us to establish strong business synergies in the long term.”
– Mr. Tubias Fondo, IT and Communications Manager, Mozambique Airport Handling Service
“At Kale, we are excited to deploy Africa’s first ACS. We are proud to bring our expertise and best practices to this collaboration, ensuring the highest standards of service and innovation. Developing the ACS for a major player like MAHS in Mozambique represents a key milestone for Kale. We are committed to providing best-in-class service and building a long-lasting business relationship with MAHS.”
– Vineet Malhotra, Co-founder and Director of Kale
Faced with the major challenge of limited visibility of commercial information at airports, trade facilitation bodies in Mozambique are striving to establish increased transparency across all operations. The ACS initiative, with its ability to optimize data flows and automate regulatory checks, is fully aligned with this effort.
In summary, through this strategic collaboration, Kale Logistics and MAHS aim to radically transform airport cargo management in Mozambique, laying the groundwork for a modern and efficient logistics infrastructure that could eventually serve as a model across Africa.
