Civil Aviation: Cameroon to Host the ICAO Global Facilitation Forum in 2025

Cameroon is set to play a prominent role on the international civil aviation stage by hosting the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Global Facilitation Forum in 2025. To this end, the Minister of Transport (MINT), Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBEHÈ, chaired a preparatory meeting in his office on November 5, 2024. This high-level meeting brought together key officials involved in organizing the event, including representatives from the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX), the General Delegation for National Security (DGSN), and other major stakeholders in the sector.

The forum aims to assess the progress of national facilitation programs, foster experience-sharing between member countries, and propose improvement measures.

This international event aligns with the regulatory framework defined by Annex 9 of the Chicago Convention on civil aviation, which mandates each member state to develop a National Facilitation Program (NFP).

Cameroon’s Permanent Representative to ICAO highlighted the importance of this event for the country. Hosting the Global Facilitation Forum offers a unique opportunity for Cameroon to strengthen its leadership and enhance its visibility on the international stage.

Cameroon, which actively participates in ICAO’s work, stands to benefit from this occasion to highlight its contributions and establish itself as a regional leader in civil aviation.

With more than 200 officials expected to attend, including high-ranking ICAO representatives and civil aviation ministers, the forum will be co-chaired by MINT and the DGSN.
