Logistics Hub: DHL Express Injects €24 Million into New Mega-Service Center in East Cairo

DHL Express and YANMU Logistics (a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Group) has signed a landmark agreement to establish the largest DHL service center in the country. With a €24 million price tag, this project signals a massive bet on Egypt’s burgeoning role in the Middle East and NorthAfrica (MENA) supply chain.

The signing ceremony, held at the Hassan Allam Group headquarters, brought together executives from both organisations, including Abdulaziz Busbate, CEO of DHL Express MENA, and Dalia Wahba, CEO of Hassan Allam Utilities. The agreement focuses on the development of a state-of-the-art facility within the East Cairo Logistics Park (Suez Road), strategically positioned to capture the flow of trade between Cairo’s industrial zones and international markets.

“Opening the new facility is a strategic step aligned with the growing scale of business in Egypt, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and quality in delivering leading logistics services in Egypt and worldwide. We continuously work on developing our infrastructure and enhancing digital transformation across our systems and operational equipment to provide superior customer experience. This project reflects our confidence in the strength of the local economy and its growing role as a strategic country for trade and logistics in the region.” said Mr. Abdulaziz Busbate, CEO of DHL Express Middle East and North Africa.

A Massive Footprint: Doubling Down on Capacity

The new facility is not merely an expansion; it is a total overhaul of DHL’s operational capabilities in Egypt. As the company aims for a 27% increase in business volume by 2035, this infrastructure serves as the primary engine for that growth.

Technical Specifications of the New Facility:

Feature Details
Total Area 13,000 square meters
Built-up Area 11,000 square meters
Security Standards TAPA A (Highest global security benchmark)
Location Suez Road (Near the Ring Road)
Operational Impact Expected to double double DHL’s operational capabilities, enable the company to accommodate a larger fleet of vehicles, accelerate delivery and pick-up services.

Strategic Synergy: Suez Road and Cairo Airport

While the East Cairo facility will handle the bulk of pick-up and delivery logistics, DHL is simultaneously strengthening its air-side operations. The company confirmed additional investments to expand its customs clearance facility at Cairo International Airport.

By integrating automated systems and advanced shipment management solutions at the airport, DHL is creating a seamless “loop” between its Suez Road warehouse and the global air network.

Mr. Karim Hefzi, Chief Operations Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with DHL in establishing this advanced new facility, which supports the company’s expansion plans in Egypt. We are committed to delivering high-quality logistics infrastructure for optimal operational performance. This project reflects our capability to provide advanced logistics solutions that meet market needs and support business growth, reaffirming our commitment to the development of Egypt’s logistics sector. “
