Work on the Dakar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was launched in October 2021 by President Macky Sall.

With a total cost of approximately 300 billion FCFA, the BRT will have a rich fleet of 144 articulated buses, which will transport up to 300,000 passengers per day, with a journey time reduced by half between the suburbs and the city center. from Dakar

Financed by the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and the Green Climate Fund, this project is carried out over a length of 18.3 km.

It will cross 14 municipalities and will transport 300,000 travelers daily between Guédiawaye (a suburb of Dakar) and the city center of the capital, according to the authorities’ projections.

The BRT project, led by the Executive Council for Urban Transport in Dakar (CETUD), will considerably improve urban mobility.
