On Tuesday, July 19, Gambian President Adama Barrow took delivery of 33 new buses worth $2.7 million to expand the fleet of the Gambia Transport Services Corporation (GTSC).
“The Greater Banjul region is home to the majority of the country’s population and must meet the mobility needs of the region’s residents in the face of rapid urbanization and population growth. It has become one of the main challenges of the national transport policy,” said President Adama Barrow at the ceremony.
This purchase comes at the right time because “the demand for transport services has increased significantly” according to Seedy Kanyi, General Manager of the GTSC.
