Facilitation of Trade: Togo Now Has Its Portal: “Togo Trade Portal”

The Ministry of Commerce, Handicrafts, and Local Consumption is facilitating administrative procedures related to trade for economic operators. On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the “Togo Trade Portal” platform was officially launched in Lomé, accessible at: https://togotrade.gouv.tg.

This portal is designed to enhance the transparency of administrative procedures related to trade and to improve access for Togolese small and medium-sized enterprises to regional and international markets.

Developed by the Ministry of Commerce with technical support from the International Trade Centre (ITC), the “Togo Trade Portal” gathers regulations and administrative procedures related to cross-border trade in products and services. It provides a step-by-step description of import and export procedures and displays all the required documents and forms, as well as the fees and charges that traders must pay. More than just a website, the “Togo Trade Portal” is a practical digital tool for importing or exporting products and services in Togo.

For Aissatou Diallo, Head of the Africa Section at ITC, the Togo Trade Portal embodies an ambitious and pragmatic vision, one of a Togo fully connected to regional and global value chains through smoother trade. For Togo, the development of this platform provides a tool to support the government in its reforms to facilitate trade and regional integration.

Praising the enlightened vision of His Excellency President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, whose initiatives and ambitious reforms have significantly accelerated the modernization and development of the Togolese economy, the Minister of Commerce, Handicrafts, and Local Consumption, Kayi MIVEDOR-SAMBIANI, noted that this portal remains a major asset in implementing the key objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), and allows Togo to improve its business climate and investment performance in the subregion.

It is worth noting that the launch of this platform marks the achievement of the third objective of the “ITC-Togo Project/Access to International Markets (AMI)”, a process that began in January 2024 with the support of ITC and UNCTAD. This portal is part of the program to promote the competitiveness of the private sector in Togo (ProComp), funded by Germany and the European Union and implemented by GIZ.
