Exports: A New Maritime Line Between Morocco and Europe

In November 2025, port operator DP World will launch a new maritime route linking the Moroccan ports of Agadir and Casablanca with the terminals of London and Antwerp. This initiative aims to facilitate and speed up the export of Moroccan agricultural products to Europe.

A Sustainable Alternative to Road Transport
The new line, called “Atlas,” offers a more efficient solution than long-distance road transport. Shipping perishable goods by truck over the more than 3,000 kilometers separating Morocco from the United Kingdom can lead to delays, product damage, and traffic congestion. Sea transport will provide faster, smoother, and more secure delivery — ideal for fragile fruits and vegetables.

Two vessels will operate this service, carrying up to 150,000 tons of fresh produce annually, mainly blueberries and tomatoes. According to DP World, shifting from road to sea will cut CO₂ emissions by 70%.

Direct Access to European Markets
In addition to speed and environmental benefits, this route will give Moroccan producers direct access to DP World’s logistics platforms in London and Antwerp. These strategic distribution centers will allow for more efficient delivery to both the UK and European markets.

The official launch of the service is scheduled in Agadir on September 18. For DP World, this line marks an important step in creating more sustainable and competitive supply chains between Morocco and its European partners.
