Enakl: $1.4 Million to Reinvent Urban Mobility in Africa

In the ecosystem of African technological innovation, Enakl has just distinguished itself with a significant pre-seed funding round of $1.4 million, with the ambition of marking a decisive turning point in transforming urban transportation across the continent. This funding round, led by Catalyst Fund and supported by renowned investors such as Renew Capital, Digital Africa, Station F, and several business angels, validates Enakl’s innovative approach in the field of urban mobility.

Maxime Bayen, partner at Catalyst Fund, clearly explicates the vision behind this investment: “We chose to invest in Enakl for their ability to transform urban transportation in Africa through a sustainable and scalable solution. By reducing carbon emissions and urban congestion through technology-based shared transportation solutions, Enakl addresses urbanization challenges while improving accessibility. In a world increasingly aware of climate issues, Enakl’s model shows the way towards sustainable and inclusive mobility for African cities.”

Founded in September 2023 in Casablanca by Samir Bennani and Charles Pommarede, with Ahmed Omrane as technical director, Enakl focuses on home-to-work commutes. The startup develops a technological shared transportation platform that addresses urban mobility challenges.

The numbers speak for themselves: Enakl already records over 15,000 monthly bookings in Casablanca, with a monthly growth of 20%. This initial success attests to the relevance of their solution. The co-founders are clear about their ambitions: “This funding allows us to strengthen our impact in Casablanca and accelerate the development of our technology, particularly by integrating artificial intelligence to optimize routes.”

Beyond economic performance, Enakl aims for a profound impact. The company offers transportation solutions that reduce urban congestion, decrease carbon footprint, and improve workers’ quality of life. With this funding round, Enakl plans to expand to other African cities, with the objective of becoming a reference actor in intelligent, safe, and sustainable urban transportation.

For Adam Abate, CEO of Renew Capital, “Enakl demonstrates a deep understanding of mobility challenges and a remarkable execution capacity. We are proud to support them in this transformative adventure.” The $1.4 million funding is more than just a simple investment. It’s a strong signal: African urban mobility is mutating, driven by technological innovation and local entrepreneurship.
