SAPICS RATED AS THE PREMIER SUPPLY CHAIN CONFERENCE BY WORLD-RENOWNED EXPERT

The Professional Body for Supply Chain Management (SAPICS) organised the first SAPICS Conference for 35 delegates in Johannesburg in 1975. Today, the event is the leading education and networking gathering for African supply chain professionals and recently earned a commendation from one of the
biggest names in the global supply chain community.

“SAPICS is the premier supply chain conference to benchmark,” commented world-renowned United States-based supply chain expert Carol Ptak. A highly regarded presenter and a smash-hit on several SAPICS Conference programmes over the years, Ptak is a partner with the Demand Driven Institute. She has written and co-authored numerous articles and books on Demand Driven principles, finance and information and planning systems.

“We are honoured to receive this high praise from a supply chain legend like Carol Ptak in the run-up to this year’s 44 th annual SAPICS Conference,” comments SAPICS president MJ Schoemaker.

SAPICS 2022 takes place at Century City Conference Centre, Cape Town, from 12 to 15 June 2022. The event will be an in-person one once more, after two virtual conferences because of the COVID-19 pandemic. “This is a momentous, not-to-be-missed SAPICS Conference,” Schoemaker enthuses.

She notes that as the first face-to-face SAPICS Conference in two years, the event will be a festive celebration, but it also offers a vital opportunity for the profession to share lessons learnt during the pandemic, to ensure that it is prepared for future supply chain disruptions. “Global supply chains and supply chain professionals faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 crisis. The 2022 SAPICS
Conference provides a platform for supply chain practitioners from across the industry spectrum to network and collaborate. They will have the opportunity to discuss challenges, to identify solutions and inspire innovation, and to gain valuable insights on issues like supply chain risk and resilience, as well as best practices and the latest tools and technologies. It will also enable them to benchmark themselves
and their organisations as we enter a post-pandemic world with new threats, new opportunities, perspectives and priorities.

“Recognising the financial challenges facing many organisations right now, SAPICS has gone back in time for this year’s conference, and delegates will notice that the registration fees are the same as they were in 2018,” Schoemaker says.
