Official Graduation Ceremony for Twenty-Seven Chadian Air Traffic Controllers Trained at the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation in Casablanca

The Republic of Chad proudly celebrates the culmination of two years of sustained effort, technical rigor, and intensive training with the official graduation of twenty-seven (27) young air traffic controllers. These professionals were trained at the prestigious Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco.

The solemn graduation ceremony was held within the grounds of the Academy and attended by an official delegation led by Mr. Dihoulne Laurent, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology. He was accompanied by Mr. Mahamat Saleh Hamit, Director General for Airport Infrastructure and Aeronautical Development, Mr. Haroun Mahamat Abdelmahamoud, Director of Human and Material Resources, and Ms. Dahab Souleymane Kandamaye, Deputy Director of Communications. The presence of the Cultural Advisor representing the Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to the Kingdom of Morocco further enhanced the diplomatic significance of the event.

This training program is the result of an exemplary technical cooperation between Chad and Morocco. It spanned two years and was based on an intensive curriculum aligned with the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The modules covered both operational and conceptual competencies related to air traffic management, inter-center coordination, airspace regulation, mastery of CNS/ATM systems (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance / Air Traffic Management), and the use of both radar and non-radar assistance tools in complex environments.

These young professionals have been trained to operate in strict compliance with aircraft separation requirements, flight trajectory optimization, air-to-ground communication safety, traffic flow management in terminal areas, and emergency or technical failure response. They gained hands-on experience through real-time simulations, practical labs, and immersion internships in operational units.

As a recognized ICAO regional center of excellence and a member of the Trainair Plus platform, the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation provided top-tier academic supervision for the Chadian students. It combined academic rigor, technological innovation, and cultural immersion, supported by a high-caliber teaching staff and modern infrastructure.

This new cohort of air traffic controllers represents a valuable asset for Chad’s national airspace management system. Their role will be crucial in implementing modernization projects such as the expansion of Very High Frequency (VHF) coverage, installation of Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) systems, digitization of Air Traffic Control (ATC) coordination procedures, and integration of radar and satellite surveillance technologies.

With their expertise, these young professionals will strengthen national human resources, bridge the gap in specialized personnel, and contribute to the implementation of Chad’s national air transport development strategy.

This graduation ceremony reflects the Chadian Government’s commitment to equipping the civil aviation sector with qualified national expertise and positioning civil aviation as a lever for connectivity, safety, sovereignty, and economic growth. It also highlights the depth of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Chad in technical training, knowledge transfer, and aeronautical development.

The Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology extends its heartfelt congratulations to the new graduates—true ambassadors of Chadian excellence abroad—and wishes them a successful career in service to the nation and the sub-region.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of gifts to the Representative of the Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics, to the National Airports Office (ONDA)—which oversees the Academy—as well as to the administrative leaders and teaching staff. These tokens of appreciation, accompanied by a reception, were offered by the Chadian Ministry to express its gratitude to the Moroccan counterparts.
