The government of Morocco and Ghana held discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in transportation and logistics between their two countries.
The meeting held by Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh and Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, emphasized the strong and growing relationship between Morocco and Ghana, particularly within the framework of South-South cooperation. Both officials expressed satisfaction with ongoing collaboration across multiple sectors and reiterated their commitment to expanding joint initiatives.
Areas of discussion
Key areas of discussion included; plans to enhance direct air routes, with Royal Air Maroc aiming to introduce daily flights between Casablanca and Accra, opportunities for Morocco to support Ghana in upgrading port infrastructure, joint interest in improving rail networks and logistics systems and a shared commitment to promote education and technical training in the fields of aviation and maritime transport.
Minister Kayouh also highlighted Morocco’s ongoing infrastructure developments and welcomed potential Ghanaian investment and engagement with Moroccan stakeholders. Minister Ablakwa, in turn, mentioned key transport projects in Ghana, such as road improvements in the northern and western regions, the revival of the national airline, and the implementation of a new digital travel authorization system to facilitate mobility. Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, Charity Gbedawo, was also present at the talks. Both sides agreed to maintain momentum in building long-term partnerships in trade, tourism, infrastructure, and beyond.
