The Italian Foreign Trade Agency (ITA) declares having opened an office in Dakar last January, with the aim of “facilitating commercial relations between companies” from Italy and those from Senegal .
The ITA explains in a press release sent to the APS on Tuesday that its “primary objective […] is to facilitate commercial relations between Senegalese and Italian companies, particularly during trade fairs and events in Italy”.
The Italian agency promises to “assist” Senegalese companies “in their efforts” aimed at “discovering Italian products and technologies”.
“It also intends to help develop solutions that can benefit the Senegal market by creating more skills and added value locally,” assured Alessandro Gerbino, the director of its office in Dakar.
“The agency focuses particularly on the infrastructure, construction, energy and agro-industry sectors”, while “operating through a global network of 79 offices open in 65 countries”, states the press release.
The ITA “supports the development of the activities of Italian companies abroad, promotes ‘made in Italy’ products, as well as the attraction of foreign investments to Italy”.
With its Dakar office, “it intends to strengthen its presence in Africa in general, and its economic links with Senegal in particular”.
“The ITA offices are the ideal gateway for Senegalese companies wishing to establish commercial and industrial relations with Italian companies,” explains Alessandro Gerbino.
“We can [help them] participate in trade fairs and other events in Italy,” Mr. Gerbino added in the press release.
The text presents Italy as “the second largest manufacturing country in the European Union” and “a leader in products and technologies serving many economic sectors”.
“There is great potential for bilateral collaboration, in which many Senegalese entrepreneurs are already engaged,” reports the same source.
She announced that ITA will participate for the first time in SENCON, the International Exhibition of Construction, Finishing and Infrastructure, from next Thursday to Saturday, at the Diamniadio exhibition center, near Dakar.
