The acquisition of this Airbus A320, an aircraft renowned for its reliability and comfort, reflects the strategic vision of the highest authorities to equip Gabon with modern and competitive air infrastructure. The President of the Republic, His Excellency Brice Clotaire OLLIGUI NGUEMA, today presided over the official reception ceremony of a new Airbus A320 for the national airline Fly Gabon, held at the Presidential Air Group.
The creation of Fly Gabon, initiated by the Head of State in November 2023, stems from the will to revive the national aviation sector, nineteen years after the disappearance of Air Gabon. The airline operated its first commercial flight in August 2024 between Libreville and Port-Gentil, marking the beginning of its operations under the high patronage of the President of the Republic.

The acquisition of this Airbus A320, a model recognized for its reliability and comfort, underscores the strategic vision of the highest authorities to provide Gabon with modern and competitive air infrastructure. With a capacity of 16 Business Class seats and 120 Economy Class seats, the aircraft will not only strengthen existing routes but also open new destinations, including Johannesburg in the near future.

The ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials, featured military honors, the national anthem, the ceremonial entry of the aircraft onto the tarmac, and official speeches.
In keeping with international aviation tradition, the aircraft was blessed, followed by a symbolic ribbon-cutting and a guided tour of the plane by the Head of State and the invited guests.
In his address, the Minister of Transport reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reducing air ticket prices—a major concern for both domestic and international travelers. Discussions are underway with airlines and strategic partners to find sustainable solutions.

Fly Gabon’s fleet now includes five ATR 72-600s, one CRJ 900, and the newly acquired Airbus A320, thereby strengthening its capacity to offer quality services.
