Casablanca, January 7, 2026 – Following the acquisition of a dozen new aircraft and the launch of around twenty international routes, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is continuing its expansion plan with the opening of a new air base at Tetouan – Sania R’mel Airport. This initiative, developed in close collaboration with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), aims to expand RAM’s network in the northern region, meet growing connectivity demand, and complement the existing services from its Tangier base.
This new base will allow RAM to launch a series of direct flights to European destinations, enhancing Morocco’s tourism and economic attractiveness.
Expanded European Connections
Starting March 27, 2026, RAM will operate flights from Tetouan to Paris, London-Gatwick, Brussels, Barcelona, Madrid, and Malaga. On the domestic network, direct flights between Tetouan and Casablanca will also be increased with three additional weekly frequencies, supplementing the existing flights on Fridays and Sundays. This expansion will provide optimized connections to RAM’s entire international network via its hub in Morocco’s economic capital.
All flights will be operated using Embraer 190 (E90) aircraft, modern and comfortable planes ideally suited to passenger needs on these routes.
Strategic Statements from Leadership
“The opening of this air base in Tetouan fully reflects our commitment to developing Morocco’s tourism sector. It will better connect the northern region to key European tourist markets and strengthen the area’s appeal to international travelers. This service, complementary to Tangier, actively supports Morocco’s tourism and economic outreach,” said Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc.
Achraf Fayda, Director General of the ONMT, added that “by improving accessibility and connectivity with strategic European markets, this initiative aligns with ONMT’s strategy to support balanced, sustainable tourism growth that brings high added value to the regions.”
Complementary to Tangier Base
The Tetouan base is designed to complement the Tangier platform. Flight schedules have been carefully arranged to provide travelers and tourists with more flexibility and a wider choice of frequencies.
Tickets are available for purchase from January 7, 2026, via the Royal Air Maroc website, the airline’s call centers and sales offices, as well as through its network of partner travel agencies.
