E-commerce: Taager, the Egyptian Startup Aiming to Democratize Online Sales, Lands in Morocco

Casablanca – The Moroccan e-commerce market is gaining a major player from Egypt: the Taager platform. After succeeding in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, the startup founded in 2019 is arriving in Morocco with an “e-commerce empowerment” model designed to lift logistical and financial barriers for entrepreneurs.

Taager, founded by Mohammed Elhorishy, Ismail Omar, Abdelrahman Sherief, and Ahmed Ismail, has quickly established itself as an essential solution for individuals—whether students, micro-entrepreneurs, or influencers—who wish to start selling online. Its integrated approach allows users to bypass the main obstacles of e-commerce: inventory management, startup capital, and logistical complexity.

 “Zero Constraint” Logistics Model

Taager’s strength lies in its comprehensive management of the entire value chain. The platform handles:

  • Product Sourcing: Sellers gain instant access to over 5,000 products with high sales potential, without the need to purchase or stock the merchandise themselves.

  • Logistics: Taager takes care of packaging, shipping, and delivery.

  • Payment: The model supports Cash-on-Delivery, which is crucial in many African markets.

This model has already attracted over 65,000 independent sellers since the company’s launch, providing them with economic autonomy without the typical financial risks.

Morocco, a Bridgehead for African Expansion

The move into Morocco is part of an ambitious regional expansion strategy aimed at accelerating e-commerce growth in key strategic markets. Co-founder Abdelrahman Sherief explained the choice:

“We identified Morocco as one of the most dynamic e-commerce markets, thanks to its connected youth and a rapidly structuring digital ecosystem. Our ambition is to offer a model that empowers everyone to succeed in online selling.”

To lead this new phase, the Moroccan subsidiary is headed by Salma Ammor, recognized for her expertise in the growth dynamics of African digital markets. Her mission is clear: to offer a “reliable, inclusive, and high-performing launchpad” for a new generation of Moroccan entrepreneurs.

Supporting Economic Autonomy

Taager recently raised $6.75 million to finance this expansion and aims to become the leading platform for e-merchants in the Arab world. Beyond simple transactions, the concept of “empowerment” is central. It involves providing commercial development tools and ensuring a fair share of the value created by the sellers’ activity.

The company is actively recruiting for several key positions (media buyers, account managers, and tele-sales agents) to support the rapid growth anticipated in this new market.
