Côte d’Ivoire – Road Safety Week 2024: Mobilization for Safer Roads

Lutte Contre l’incivisme Routier : La 15eme Édition de la Semaine de la Sécurité Routière Prévue du 03 au 10 Avril 2024

(Logis-T Africa) – From April 3 to 10, 2024, Côte d’Ivoire is embarking on a vast awareness campaign to combat road incivility on the occasion of the 15th edition of Road Safety Week. This initiative, organized by the Office of Road Safety (OSER) under the aegis of the Ministry of Transport, aims to reduce road accidents and save lives.

Road incivility: a scourge that threatens everyone’s safety

Road accidents are a major public health problem in Côte d’Ivoire. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives or are injured in accidents, often due to irresponsible behavior on the roads. Road incivility, which manifests itself in speeding, dangerous overtaking, non-compliance with traffic lights and the use of mobile phones while driving, is one of the main causes of these accidents.

A week to raise awareness and change behavior

Road Safety Week is an opportunity for OSER and its partners to raise awareness among all road users about the dangers of road incivility and to promote responsible behavior on the roads. During this week, various activities will be organized throughout the country, including:

  • Awareness campaigns through the media, social networks and local actions.
  • Reinforced road checks to combat traffic violations.
  • Training workshops for professional drivers and motorcyclists.
  • Activities and games to raise awareness among children about road safety.

A strong message: prudence and respect for the highway code to save lives

OSER calls on all road users to exercise caution and scrupulously respect the highway code. By adopting responsible behavior, everyone can contribute to reducing the number of accidents and saving lives.

Together, let’s make the roads a space for sharing and safety!
