Congo Terminal Acquires 4 New RTGs

On June 23, 2025, Congo Terminal announced the arrival of 4 new Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes.
With a lifting capacity of 40 tons, this new equipment will increase container storage capacities in the yards and help improve the fluidity of overall operations.

These machines will strengthen an already well-equipped fleet, which includes 8 Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes, 26 RTG yard cranes, 5 mobile cranes, and 11 reachstackers. Congo Terminal expects 3 additional RTGs to be delivered by the end of 2025.

“The acquisition of this new equipment and the construction of a new port platform at the East Mole reflect our commitment to supporting the country’s competitiveness and the development of trade in the region,” explained Sandrine WAMY, Congo Terminal’s Operations Director.

The company is continuing its investment program with the aim of making Pointe-Noire the leading deep-water port and a transshipment hub of excellence across the southern part of West Africa’s coastline. In 2022 and 2023, Congo Terminal exceeded the threshold of 1,000,000 TEUs handled per year and is aiming to process over 2,400,000 TEUs annually by 2027, once the new port platform currently under construction at the East Mole is commissioned.
