Afreximbank Academy and CreditRegistry join forces to equip millions across Global Africa with financial and trade skills

Afreximbank Academy (AFRACAD), the Corporate Academy of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), and CreditRegistry Corporation have signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) to unlock new opportunities for Africans through digital financial literacy, credit education and trade capacity-building. The collaboration will give learners and businesses practical tools to access finance, build creditworthiness and compete more confidently in regional and global markets.

The alliance combines AFRACAD’s leadership in trade, development finance and institutional capacity-building with CreditRegistry’s expertise in financial literacy, consumer credit education and digital learning. Together, the organisations will build an integrated learning ecosystem for young people, entrepreneurs, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), women-owned businesses and professionals—equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills to secure finance, strengthen their credit profiles and seize opportunities in domestic and international trade.

CreditRegistry Corporation is a financial technology company delivering credit information and digital solutions that advance financial inclusion, responsible lending and financial literacy across Africa. Through the collaboration, its Africa Consumer Credit Academy (ACCA) curriculum will be integrated into the AFRACAD Learning Platform, creating a seamless pathway from foundational financial literacy, entrepreneurship and credit management to advanced learning in trade finance, compliance, due diligence and international trade.

The partnership will also accelerate awareness and adoption of Afreximbank’s flagship digital platforms, including the MANSA Customer Due Diligence Repository and the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS). By using these tools, African businesses can strengthen compliance, improve access to finance and enter cross-border markets with greater confidence.

Implementation will bring the partnership to life through co-created digital courses, masterclasses, executive workshops, webinars and certification programmes delivered through AFRACAD’s extensive learning infrastructure. The first major initiative will target 20,000 to 30,000 learners, setting the stage for an ambitious drive to reach approximately three million families and businesses with financial education and trade capabilities across Africa and the wider Global Africa community.

Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Stephen Kauma, Group Managing Director of Human Resources, Afreximbank, said:

“Africa’s future will be built not only with capital, but with knowledge, skills and empowered people. Through this partnership, we are opening new pathways for the next generation of African entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals to compete and thrive in an increasingly integrated African market and global economy. By connecting financial literacy with practical trade education, we can help turn ambition into enterprise, expand opportunity and drive more inclusive, sustainable prosperity.”

Also commenting, Dr. Jameelah Sharrieff-Ayedun, Co-Founder and Director of CreditRegistry Corporation, said:

“This partnership is a major step forward for financial capability across Africa. By bringing CreditRegistry’s credit education expertise together with AFRACAD’s powerful trade and development platform, we will enable individuals and businesses to make smarter financial decisions, improve their access to finance and convert new knowledge into opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation and trade.”

The expected impact is far-reaching: stronger employability, more resilient enterprises, improved financial capability and wider participation in regional and international markets. The scalable platform will also create fresh opportunities for public-private collaboration, extending high-quality capacity-building to communities across Africa and Global Africa while helping to power more inclusive and resilient economic growth.

The three-year MoU provides a clear framework for the two institutions to turn this ambition into action—jointly developing and delivering learning initiatives that advance financial inclusion, strengthen trade capabilities and support Africa’s long-term economic transformation.
