From November 4 to 7, 2025, the Autonomous Port of Pointe-Noire will host the annual meetings of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA).
Pointe-Noire, the economic capital of the Republic of Congo, will become the focal point of strategic discussions within the West and Central African port community as it welcomes the 45th Annual Council of PMAWCA and the 40th Roundtable of Directors General of Member Ports.
This dual flagship event of the African maritime sector, organized by PMAWCA, will take place at the administrative headquarters of the Autonomous Port of Pointe-Noire under the theme:
“Reinventing Port Land Management: Towards the Sustainable and Resilient Development of Infrastructure in the Face of Economic and Environmental Challenges.”
A Topical Theme for Sustainable and Competitive Port Management
This timely theme reflects the determination of PMAWCA’s 24 member ports to strengthen governance and reinvent themselves to better address the challenges of competitiveness, modernization, and ecological transition.
It highlights the importance of optimizing the use of port areas, effectively responding to global economic shifts and climate-related threats, developing smart and sustainable infrastructure, and strengthening resilience to economic and environmental shocks.
To debate this theme, several delegations of maritime and port sector experts from West and Central Africa — along with technical and financial partners — will gather for four days in Pointe-Noire to exchange ideas, innovate, and build a shared vision for the future of regional port logistics.
A Platform for Exchange, Innovation, and Collaboration
This event will provide an ideal opportunity for the Directors General of PMAWCA member ports to share their experiences during panel sessions, debate innovative solutions, and identify common strategies to enhance the modernization and competitiveness of port infrastructure in West and Central Africa.
According to the comprehensive and diverse program planned for the event, participants will have the opportunity to explore exhibitions, engage in B2B meetings, and take part in guided tours of the facilities of the Autonomous Port of Pointe-Noire.
Pointe-Noire, a Strategic Hub for Central Africa
By hosting this major event, the Autonomous Port of Pointe-Noire — a true maritime hub of Central Africa — reaffirms its growing and strategic role in the region’s logistical and economic framework.
It will also showcase its central position in regional and international trade and highlight the crucial issues of sustainability and resilience that will guide the discussions throughout the conference.
Strong Resolutions Expected
At the conclusion of this dual event, strong resolutions are expected to be adopted to support PMAWCA member ports in their transition toward innovative, sustainable, and integrated management models, capable of addressing global economic realities and environmental imperatives.
