The Andem Airport is a project that has been under discussion for around 15 years, and its realization is now taking shape. It is part of a broader reform agenda launched by the Gabonese administration to boost the country’s airport industry.
The construction of the Andem International Airport, presented by Gabonese authorities as a future air hub for Central Africa, is expected to be completed “before 2030,” according to the timeline agreed upon with the Burkinabè contractor Ebomaf.
With an estimated budget of around 220 billion CFA francs, the project will be financed through a public-private partnership model. The airport complex, which will cover 30,000 hectares, will feature modern infrastructure built to international standards, including a presidential pavilion and a large-scale parking facility.
The airport aims, among other objectives, to enhance Gabon’s national and international connectivity. It is part of a broader government strategy that includes multiple projects in the aviation sector. This plan involves the renovation of regional airfields, fleet renewal, and the signing of partnerships with international stakeholders to improve performance and increase traffic.
According to Le Nouveau Gabon, Ebomaf is also involved in the construction of Libreville 2—the new city designed to ease congestion in the capital—as well as the development of the strategic 208-km Lebamba – Mbigou – Malinga – Molo corridor.
