AIR TRANSPORT – Antananarivo Airport Named Best Airport in Africa

Antananarivo International Airport has been awarded the title of “Best Airport in Africa with under 2 million passengers”.

For the second consecutive year, Antananarivo International Airport has been named the “Best Airport in Africa with fewer than 2 million passengers” by ACI World (Airports Council International). According to Sandrine Rahantamalala, Head of Communications and Public Relations at Ravinala Airports, this award recognizes the sustained efforts made to improve service quality.

“This is a well-deserved recognition. We have made significant efforts to reach this point. Passengers who knew the airport before can clearly see the improvements and appreciate the transformation,” she stated.

This distinction highlights the airport’s commitment to delivering an enhanced passenger experience. The constant improvement in service quality was a key criterion for this award.

“Today, travelers move through a much calmer and more pleasant environment. Receiving this recognition is truly an honor, added Sandrine Rahantamalala, while emphasizing that major efforts have also been made to strengthen service quality and combat corruption.

An Internationally Shared Honor

For the 2024 edition, Ivato Airport shares this distinction with two South African airports: Bram Fischer International Airport in Bloemfontein, and George Airport in the town of the same name.

The ASQ Awards (Airport Service Quality), presented annually by ACI World in collaboration with Amadeus, recognize airports offering the best customer experience. Amadeus, a major player in travel and tourism technology, supports this initiative.

The evaluation is based on surveys conducted directly with passengers in the departure lounges.
“An ACI surveyor interviews passengers inside the terminal to gather their opinions on the strengths and areas for improvement,” explained Sandrine Rahantamalala.
“Once validated, their responses are automatically integrated into ACI’s global database. Ravinala Airports has no control over these surveys, which ensures their objectivity
