On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, The Gambia’s Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure (MOTWI) concluded a three-day bilateral engagement with Senegal’s Ministry of Transport, held in Dakar.
This engagement included a ministerial-level meeting followed by two days of technical discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal in the areas of road transport, infrastructure, and air transport.
The Gambian delegation was led by the Honourable Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, and included Permanent Secretary Matar Ceesay, Director of Transport Sainabou Houma, as well as the Director General and Technical Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA). The Director General of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and his team also actively contributed to discussions on air transport.
Key topics discussed included operational challenges at critical infrastructure points such as the Sénégalia Bridge, progress on joint road projects, and discussions on the internationalization of transport agreements.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to tackling shared challenges and advancing solutions that promote smooth, safe, and efficient cross-border movement.
The Senegalese delegation included Mr. Bamba Sy, Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport; Mr. Valdiodio Ndiaye, Director of Transport; Mr. El Hadji Tidiane Ndiaye, Director General of Air Senegal; Mr. Momodou Alasan Camara, Director General of Road Infrastructure; and Mr. Souleymane Gueye, Director General of Air Transport.
This bilateral engagement is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to foster strong regional partnerships and promote the sustainable development of transport systems to benefit both nations’ populations and economies.
