Significant improvements have been made in activities on these roads, with overall progress in Phase 1 reaching 90% completion, while Phase 2 is gradually reaching 75% completion. The consultant for the project is Cityscape Associates, and the contractor is Gai Construction.
Phase 1 of this project consists of a 39 km road stretching from Sankandi – Jeferong – Bajana – Kuli Kunda – Keneba – Manduar – Kuyan – Karantaba.
The road sealing has been completed. The central lane has been paved up to Karantaba, while road painting is expected to begin next week.
Phase 2 covers a 48 km road passing through Jali, Kantong Kunda, Kuli Kunda, Tankular, Keneba Tenda, Joulie, Kemoto, Janneh Kunda, Bush Town, Karantaba, Burong, Taburongkoto, Missira Tenda, and two other villages.
Currently, earthworks have been completed for 40 km out of the total 48 km.
The sealing of the 2.2 km Jali road has also been completed. Earthworks have been finalized up to the base level along the 2.8 km stretch by the Keneba riverside.
The Manduar – Joulie 11 km road has also seen significant progress. Earthworks are completed, and road sealing has now been done for 7 km out of the total 11 km.
The 0.3 km Karantaba Gamtel bypass is also progressing, with earthworks completed up to the sub-base level.
In Karantaba center: Phase 1 includes Janneh Kunda, Medina & Burong. More than 50% of the earthworks have been carried out up to the base level and are progressing steadily.
